October 2003 Board Meeting Minutes
by Tom Blinn	October 1, 2003

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 by Mike Lussier. In attendance were Mike Lussier, Tom Blinn, Patty Bixby, Paul Michali, David Harrison, Martin Callahan, Alvin Legerlotz, Rob Greer, and Geoff Pascoe. Since only two board members were present, there was not a voting quorum.

Minutes from the September meeting were presented. Thanks to George Bixby for acting as secretary in Tom Blinn's absence and providing electronic copy.

The treasurer's report was presented by Mike Lussier. The bank account balance was around 33K and we are current on all accounts payable. Mike commented that we do not have as much income from the upcoming October driving events as we had last year, so the year to year balance is down slightly. Mike is anticipating income from the autocross events, which usually arrives as a lump sum at the end of the season. The road rally event appears to have been "break even".

Paul Michali gave an update on web site development. Greg Scott is implementing the "Library Page" as approved at the last meeting. Paul is gathering content from the driving events committee and others.

Martin Callahan and Patty Bixby reported on the Seacoast Rally event. It is viewed as a success, both financially and socially. Martin felt that next year we should have one or more rallies that are not closely tied to a prepaid dinner, to reduce the direct costs, with the event ending at a restaurant where people could choose dinner a la carte. He thinks that we should also try to have a driving event where participants get a scenic drive to a nice destination, such as The Balsams, with a prepaid activity (such as dinner followed by an overnight stay) at the end. The mix should allow us to serve a wider range of the membership, based on feedback received about the cost of the recent event.

Al Legerlotz reported that as of the meeting date there were 18 registrants for the ASS (Advanced Skills School) and about 79 people signed up for the two days of driving school, with the Saturday date fully subscribed. The club race on Saturday and Sunday has low registration so far as of the meeting date. See the web site for event details.

Patty Bixby reported that the wine dinner is almost fully subscribed and will occur as planned on Friday, October 17th, with a five course dinner featuring the tastes of the Tuscany region of Italy. Details on the web site. The holiday party will be at CR Sparks in Bedford, NH on Saturday, January 17th, 2004. A notice with details should be in the next Profile issue.

Geoff Pascoe reported that he has made good progress on initial planning for a Nova Scotia road trip next September. There is an opportunity for a track day at Atlantic Motorsport Park (AMP) located in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia, Canada, about 40 minutes outside Halifax. Geoff would like someone from the driving events committee to be contact person to work with the Bluenose Chapter folks and help make that part of the event happen.

New Business

Members who are interested in becoming chapter officers for the 2004 calendar year should make themselves known to the board in advance of the December meeting.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:00 pm.
